Keep Your Catch Fresh in the Summer

Keep Your Catch Fresh in the Summer

In hopes of saving you the trouble of spoiling those fish you just caught and plan on eating later, we wanted to give you a friendly reminder! That way you can enjoy those tasty fish when you’re ready to sit down at the table with your family to eat dinner.

When keeping fish to prepare and cook, make sure you keep them fresh, especially during these hot summer months. We see many anglers putting fish on stringers and throwing them over the side of the boat, or tying them off to the bank. We want to strongly encourage you guys not to do this. Those fish are going to soak up all that surface temperature and get beat up from the chop during the boat ride. They can be easy to forget that way too, and it may be a couple hours before you realize those fish have just been floating there getting beat by the sun.

Our little tip or word of advice today is to just go ahead and buy a designated fish cooler, especially if you’re an avid angler that goes out on the water alot to catch and keep. Whether you’re on a boat, kayak, or just fishing from the shore, a cooler is going to keep those fish fresh one hundred percent of the time. Make sure it’s loaded with ice, and maybe some slush, and you’ll be good to go.

We spend all of this time and money on making the effort to go out on the trip and stock up on gear and tackle to catch these fish. It would really stink for those fish to go to waste over something so easy and preventable. Prepping and cooking a catch is such a rewarding feeling and sharing that with loved ones is even better. Don’t miss out on that. Enjoy your family time and stay cool. Banjo on.
